1463. Assigning useful and educative punishments or detentions
Teacher A said to
teacher B, “Don’t lose your temper in the classroom if you get mad, upset, cross.
At that moment I would tell you not to assign detention or punishment.
Don’t assign
any punishment or detention he won't be able to fulfill if he repeats his getting distracted and getting
other classmates distracted.
For example if you tell that student to remain in
the classroom for a week during the recess, you’re assigning a detention to
yourself, because you will have to remain with him at the recess too.
Don’t
tell a student that he’ll get fail in his exams if he repeats a misbehaving
action.
Set correcting and educative punishments. You do know he can carry them
out, like translating a text in English into his Spanish mother language, or
from Spanish into English.
Or assign something useful for the community of the students
plus the teacher, like picking up pieces of paper from the classroom floor after the class.” /
